Otaru Aquarium
Otaru Aquarium originated from the 1958 Hokkaido Expo where it was used as a venue attraction for Otaru.
The aquarium moved to its current location in 1974 and is known as one of the oldest aquariums in Japan.
The aquarium is located on a picturesque site, surrounded by a National Park and just 15 minutes drive
from the city center.
Annual visitors to the aquarium exceed 340,000 and it’s loved by people of all ages.
The aquarium exhibits 5000 animals of 250 different species.
The main building has 50 aquariums of various sizes, exhibiting both warm and cold water animals.
The Marine Mammals Park runs along the natural rocky shore, and exhibits Steller sealions, seals,
penguins and walruses.
Otaria and dolphin shows are performed daily in the Dolphin Stadium.Our Amusement Park
located next to the aquarium has more than 10 attractions,including a Ferris Wheel.
